A teacher who inspired me was…Ervyl Pigg. Growing up, the topic and education and teaching were commonplace in my home. My father was an educator and worked as a high school Chemistry teacher for 32 years. His dedication and enthusiasm were ever-present, as well as the joy teaching brought him. His modeling and outwardly expressed joy impacted me greatly and inspired me to follow in his footsteps.
Why do you teach? Teaching is a rewarding, challenging, and sometimes daunting profession. I appreciate that I have an opportunity each day to engage, motivate, and impact students’ learning. At the heart of my joy are the “moments.”
Something I am passionate about outside of education is…planting and landscape design.
Favorite Spot on Campus: The vantage point from my classroom. The trees are lovely. Their shifting foliage and colors are both beautiful and serene.
