This I Believe
To uphold the image of the child as competent protagonists of his or her own learning the educator must be wholly present, ready to offer an intentional, richly provisioned, responsive environment. The role of the teacher is that of a facilitator, encouraging children to explore and extend the theories that arise from their innate sense of curiosity and wonder. I value a reflective teaching practice that recognizes pedagogy as a constant wheel of learning, teaching and development.
I believe that families form an integral part of the triad that educates the young child. Effective communication with families is essential to support children in their learning processes, and make learning strong and visible.
A Teacher Who Inspired Me: My high school english teacher! She was so clearly passionate about her subject…her enthusiasm for poetry was contagious. Most importantly, she made each of us feel that our ideas mattered.
A Trinity Student Is… Empathetic, understands and respects multiple perspectives
I Teach Because: I teach so I can instill a love of learning. It’s magical to see a child’s face light up when he/she grasps a concept or feels a sense of accomplishment. I feel a teacher plays such a big role in developing a child’s self esteem
Something I am Passionate About Outside of Education is… reading! Nothing like a good book to quietly make it’s impact on me!
Favorite Spot on Campus: The Rose Garden on the Lower Campus. The water fountain, along with the beautiful roses, makes it the perfect place for quiet reflection.
