Art

At Trinity, we believe every child is an artist with a unique voice. Inspired by the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) philosophy, our art program allows students to lead their creative exploration.
This choice-based approach fosters curiosity, student voice, and agency, encouraging students to explore their ideas, experiment with materials, and express meaningfully.

Our curriculum is guided by the Studio Habits of Mind, a framework from Harvard’s Project Zero that nurtures essential skills in art and life. As they create, students:
  • Develop Craft by mastering tools and techniques.
  • Engage & Persist by embracing challenges and focusing on meaningful work.
  • Envision next steps in their artistic process.
  • Express thoughts, emotions, and stories through their creations.
  • Observe the world with deeper attention to detail.
  • Reflect on their work and learning process.
  • Stretch & Explore by taking creative risks and learning from mistakes.
  • Understand Art Worlds by connecting their work to art history and contemporary practices.
In our studio, students are viewed as authentic artists, making their own choices and progressing at their own pace. They collaborate with peers, work independently, and develop responsibility and perseverance through long-term projects. Mistakes are embraced as learning opportunities, fostering resilience and a growth mindset.

Through this dynamic process, students grow as artists and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them in all areas of life. Art at Trinity is more than a class—it’s a vibrant, creative journey that nurtures each student’s identity, curiosity, and voice.
